Yeogi-Ottae Jalnan
Yeogi-ottae Jalnan (여기어때 잘난체) is the brand font for a Korean travel booking platform Yeogi-ottae. It has two fonts – one is Jalnan 2 where the characters’ strokes are a mixture of rounded corners and straight lines and feels cheerful and friendly, while another one is the Gothic version, where it’s more business-y and serious. Both of them featuring bold weights, therefore it is more suitable for title display, and I can see it was also being used on the platform social media posts and ads.
Both of the style has its own usage and purpose. The fun Jalnan 2 style is used to emphasise on visual expression, while the Gothic version is used when clear communication is needed more. Besides that, I like how some of the strokes are designed to be more human, that give the sense of joy of travel, friendliness and welcoming feeling of the platform. Not only that, the font also has dingbat feature that turn some of the travel related keyword hashtags into decorative pictogram.
Both of the font comes with Korean and Latin characters and you can download for free and be used on personal and commercial projects.
