Hakgyoansim Dunggeunmiso
Hakgyoansim Dunggeunmiso (학교안심 둥근미소) is a cute, rounded free font with a hint of stencil style. Dunggeummiso means “rounded smile”, and you can see it clearly in the font design as the supposedly straight vertical and horizontal strokes are made slightly curved, giving it a soft, friendly, warm and welcoming feel. The strokes of bold weight feels like they are resembling sausages as they also have slight curves. Besides that, the stencil style was incorporated into some of the letters that gave additional style point to this font.
Hakgyoansim Dunggeunmiso comes with two weights: Regular and Bold. Together they give strong contrast and can be paired well in design. Other than Korean characters, it supports Latin, Cyrillic and Japanese Kana characters too, although I think the Kana characters did not carry the similar design style. Hakgyoansim Dunggeunmiso is one of the many fonts that are provided by Korea Education and Research Information Service (KERIS) through their Educational Copyright Support Center. “Hakgyoansim” means school safety, which means this font can be safely used on educational materials freely without any copyright compliance concern. Also, this font is released under SIL Open Font License, it can also be used on personal and commercial projects.
