Preview of Griun Ina Doongdoong, a chunky, playful display free Korean font

Griun Ina Doongdoong (그리운 연이나 둥둥) is a chunky, playful display font with thick strokes and a personality to match. This font was created out of a need for a font to be used on video thumbnails and subtitles by a Korean Youtuber. After searching for a font that she could use it for free without worrying for licensing, in the end she was thinking: why not I create one for myself. With the font creation tool Griun, Griun Ina Doongdoong is born.

The name draws an analogy to a deep, heavy bass line — the kind of font that fills the frame and reads instantly, even as a small thumbnail in a crowded YouTube grid. It has a slightly cartoonish, handcrafted feel that keeps it warm rather than aggressive. It’s good for titles, channel branding, graphic overlays, and any content that wants a bit of visual energy without going full-aggressive bold. This font covers Korean and basic Latin characters, and it’s free to download and be used on commercial projects.
