Cafe24 Syongsyong

Cafe24 Syongsyong (카페24 숑숑) is cute and rounded free Korean font that is visually adorable. Each strokes are slightly curved with rounded edges, and I can’t really find even a completely straight strokes. This font resembles handwriting font using rounded tip pen, and I love how the each characters’ size are slightly different, creating dynamic rhythm to the line. Besides that, I do love the fact that you can find heart shapes representing the dot in the letter “i” and “j”.

Comparing with Cafe24 Dongdong, Syongsyong is a tad more cute and fun. It packs with the Korean characters, latin characters and even Japanese hiragana and katakana. You can use this for designs that you need to express fun and friendliness, to perhaps the younger generations. The best part is that you can download and use this font for free for any personal and commercial projects, as this font is released under SIL Open Font License.

To download, visit the page and scroll down to the bottom of the font list to look for the block as highlighted below (The hint is to look for the font’s English name. You may use browser search function to locate it faster). Click on the grey button with the down arrow icon to download the font. If navigating in Korean is difficult, you can use the browser’s translation feature to make it easier for you. Once downloaded you should be able to find the font in OTF, TTF and also webfont format. The font should appear as “Cafe24 Syongsyong” in your app’s font selection panel.
