A2Z
A2Z is a modern, precisely designed and versatile Korean sans serif font family that comes with whopping 9 weights. It’s a font with perfect balance in any combination, from the first letter of the alphabet A to Z and the numbers from 0 to 9, hence the font name A2Z. The naming of this font is also due to the collaboration with an autonomous driving company called Autonomus A2Z, moreover it’s the first fully hand-crafted font by the designer named Juim Lee, I believe this is a perfect and meaningful name for all the parties involved.
A2Z font balances cutting-edge technology design cues of diagonal lines with human-centered rounded form, symbolizing the futuristic of autonomous self driving technologies are designed with high clarity, and with the care of human touch and practical safety. This font is designed to be used in many occasions, from headlines to body text, thanks to its clear lines and clean look. Juim Lee puts a lot of attention and precision to the design of the font, including the adjustments to the form of the font, so that it’s optically optimized across different font weights, and also when putting into shapes (eg. buttons, callouts, banners etc), the font sits perfectly vertically centered. Even when you apply highlights or strikethrough to this font, it will be rendered perfectly aligned. Many other fonts might require some additional adjustments, but with A2Z there’s no such need. A rejoice and music to the ears for designers like me.
Juim Lee is a no stranger when comes to precision font design. Although we mentioned that this was his first handcrafted font, he have released two other popular fonts: Freesentation and Paperlogy. All of his fonts are highly optimized for precision and carry superior quality. A2Z supports Korean and Latin script (by the way the English characters are derived from open source font Outfit), and is free for personal and commercial use, as it was released under SIL Open Font License.
